NeMoRehab: Multimodal closed-loop biofeedback system for neuro-motor rehabilitation
The NeMoRehab system is a novel neuro-rehabilitation device designed to support the therapy of spinal cord injury (SCI) by uniquely integrating electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and functional electrical stimulation (FES). This multimodal data integration enables the system to (1) monitor muscle activation and brain activity (EMG/EEG) during stimulation (FES) and (2) provide immediate adaptation of the FES. This closed-loop biofeedback system can be applied in both clinical and home environments, offering personalized muscle stimulation and somatosensory feedback. As a result, it strengthens neuro-motor rehabilitation and targeted therapy, supporting cerebrospinal plasticity. This targeted, personalized therapy helps patients recover faster and reduces residual neuro-motor impairments.
Bitsphi is responsible for developing the signal processing algorithms in the NeMoRehab system. The ability to process signals efficiently and quickly is crucial for providing immediate feedback during rehabilitation sessions, significantly enhancing therapeutic outcomes.
